Armed Suspect surrenders to Negotiator & K9

VIDEO DESCRIPTION

Deputies responded to a warrant on a highly violent suspect who was known to be armed and on top of a trailer roof. The suspect had a felony warrant for two counts of possession of drugs with intent to deliver. He has previously been arrested 18 times. Deputies surrounded an RV when the suspect popped out of the top hatch with a backpack. The suspect refused commands and began reaching inside the bag, causing the closest deputies to retreat for cover while a deputy providing rifle cover prepared to take a shot. One of the Sergeants on scene was a trained crisis negotiator. He advised the suspect if he reached into his bag again he would be shot, and the suspect replied “I guess I’m dying then”. The Sergeant was able to convince the suspect not to engage in a shootout over his warrants, and the suspect climbed down and was taken into custody. Deputies searched the bag the suspect was reaching in and located a stolen Ruger pistol. He also had a pistol magazine in his pocket. Bail has been set at $200,000 for the new charges, and bail has been revoked on the warrants. The suspect remains in custody.
